Gerald Miller, Ph.D., is the assistant dean for research for the School of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University. He previously served as associate dean for graduate affairs for the school and department head of biomedical engineering, the only accredited program in the state. Miller also directs a research program in rehabilitation engineering and man-machine interfaces, as well as another in artificial hearts and physiological fluid mechanics. He has affiliate appointments in cardiology, physiology and physical medicine, and rehabilitation at VCU.
Miller has directed the distance-learning program in engineering at VCU — the Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program — a collaboration among the five leading engineering programs in Virginia. He has also served as the engineering and science coordinator of the PFF Program since its inception. He instructs the GRAD 605 section on engineering and science, addressing faculty curriculum vitae, application letters and the interview process, tenure and promotion considerations, publishing and research, and human resources issues.
Miller earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
