Cecil B. Drain, Ph.D., is the dean of the School of Allied Health Professions at Virginia Commonwealth University. In this role, he brings leadership, research, teaching and service experience to motivate faculty, staff and students toward national achievement and recognition through the use of cutting-edge technology and delivery of quality health care. He previously served as chair of the Department of Nurse Anesthesia.
Prior to VCU, Drain spent 27 years in the U.S. Army, during which he served as acting chief nurse anesthetist at the 121st Evacuation Hospital in Seoul, South Korea, and wrote the first edition of βThe Recovery Room,β a highly regarded resource for post-anesthesia nursing. He has also served on the faculty at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine, Baylor University in Health Care Administration and Texas Wesleyan University in Allied Health Professions.
Drain received a Ph.D. in educational curriculum and instruction in higher education from Texas A&M University.
