Room for rent in the Fan

One small bedroom for rent, in the heart of the Fan, between Carytown and VCU’s Monroe Park Campus.

The apartment itself is beautiful — fully furnished (except for the bedroom for rent), all hardwood floors, built in 1911 with lots of typical Fan-apartment charm. The location is very safe and there is generally ample off-street parking available. There is a washer/dryer in the basement of the building.

Rent is $390 and includes heat, water, sewer and trash. The only extra utilities are gas, which usually runs about $15 total and would be split between two people, electric, which varies from $50-90 total and would also be split, and Internet, which is about $35 and would be split.
You would be sharing the apartment with me. I am a 30-year-old female. I work as a psychotherapist and am a painter (fine arts). You would also be sharing the apartment with my small dog (Chihuahua mix). Both of us consider ourselves to be polite, very clean, easy-going and friendly. One of us barks more than the other.

You must be gay friendly, very clean and, perhaps the most important point of all, sane. You also must be relatively furniture-free as the entire apartment is furnished and need to be okay with living in a small space. The apartment is relatively small and the bedroom to be rented out is quite small as well — about 9’x11’. There is one bathroom that is shared.

There is no need for a security deposit and I prefer to do the rent/roommate situation month-to-month. The majority of my roommate experiences have been really great but the last one I had was terrible and if I discover that you are not as sane as you purported to be, you will need to leave within 30 days notice. (Wow, that sounded really harsh…I’ve got stories, though…)

If you’re interested, I’d love to meet and show you around. Please send me an e-mail at hnrysjune@aol.com with some general details of yourself. I can send you photos of the place and we’ll take it from there!

Roommate needed

Thirty-something VCU graduate student studying advertising is looking for a new roommate.

The 1,600 square foot house will be shared by myself and one other person. The new roommate will have their own room with access to the upper porch and private bathroom. I am more willing to pay a premium for more space and privacy than cutting cost with a third roommate, so I’m paying a much larger portion of the housing costs plus all the utilities. Rent includes a security alarm, phone, internet, electricity, heat and water. Cable is extra. The rent is $850. Note: If you know someone else who is looking for a place to live, I may consider removing my stuff from the middle bedroom so it can be rented as well, but you will have to share the bathroom with that person. For three people, the rent would be $600 per person plus utilities.

This three-bedroom, two and a half bathroom, two-story house has a courtyard with a barbeque, fire pits and sitting space. The fully equipped kitchen has more than enough pots, pans, plates, spoons and cups. The house includes a washer/dryer, storage space in the basement and ample street parking. It is just a seven minute walk to Monroe Park. I do have a cat.

For more information, e-mail nermar1@yahoo.com or call (804) 447-1671.
