New student orientation
Each fall, the Graduate School and the Graduate Student Association sponsors a universitywide orientation to introduce new graduate students to VCU and the city of Richmond. Departments also conduct individual orientation sessions with representatives available to talk with students and answer questions.

Graduate students who are unable to attend an orientation session are encouraged to review the Graduate School’s new student resources for more information on the university, student services and the graduate program.
VCU Recreational Sports invites incoming graduate and professional students to begin using our facilities this summer, before classes begin. Once you have accepted your offer of admission to VCU and your name appears in the Rec Sports member database, you can take advantage of Rec Sports facilities and programs, including the new Cary Street Gym. Call the Rec Sports phone number at (804) 827-1100 to see if your name has been added to the member database, and when it has, come on down to the gym.
